Description
Our medical gases course will give you the confidence and competence to deliver Oxygen and Entonox to your patients.
This course is a comprehensive programme based on the necessary theory to enable the correct use of medical gases. Although the medical gases course is predominantly theory there are practical elements too in using the available gas units and equipment as well as your own on site equipment (if run on site).
It is ideal for staff working in medical centres, emergency services including police response units, voluntary organisations and private ambulance staff, which can be delivered at our one of our training venues or across the UK at your place of work.
Duration
A minimum of 3 hours consisting of theoretical and practical activities.
Syllabus
- Oxygen theory (British Thoracic Society Guidelines)
- Internal and external respiration
- Oxygen safety, storage, indicators and contra indicators
- Oxygen equipment and maintenance including various masks (facial and nasal)
- Pulse Oximetry
- Entonox theory
- Entonox safety, storage, indicators and contra indicators
- Entonox equipment and maintenance
- Basic airway adjucts
Certification
Assessment is ongoing by the instructor, and a certificate will be issued to those who attend the full session and meet the criteria.
Numbers
A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course and all candidates must be a minimum of 18 years of age to qualify.
